The Technology Strategy Board is a Government body. Its role is to stimulate technology-based innovation in areas which offer the greatest scope for boosting UK growth and productivity.

Sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, it has a £1 billion budget to promote, support and invest in UK technology research, development and commercialisation over 3 years. It does this through a number of ways, including knowledge transfer networks and partnerships, and sector-specific competitions.

The TSB runs regular competitions covering a range of technology and application areas, so as to provide funding for selected companies engaged in collaborative research development projects. It aims to find companies which are genuinely innovative, which meet a technology priority area identified by the TSB, have genuine prospects for success, and comply fully with the particular guidelines for the competition concerned.

I am an assessor for the Technology Strategy Board. As such I have worked on a number of such competitions in the fields of technology and the creative industries.
